Vdy vs xdiv
I'm looking for some opinions from long-term Canadian dividend investors.
I'm currently holding about $5,000 in XDIV and I'm debating whether it's worth switching that position into VDY.
My goal is a balance of:
- Long-term capital growth
- Reliable and growing dividend income
- A safer, "buy and hold for decades" Canadian dividend ETF
For those who have owned either or both:
- Which has given you the better total return over the long run?
- Do you prefer VDY or XDIV, and why?
- Is VDY's broader diversification worth giving up XDIV's quality-focused approach?
- If you already had ~$5k invested in XDIV, would you switch to VDY today, or just keep XDIV?
- Any regrets from making the switch either direction?
I'm looking for real-world experiences and long-term perspectives rather than just the published yield numbers. Thanks!
