The last couple of weeks have given me a lot of time to reflect. Iāve been away for work, putting in long days. I packed all of my camera gear, fully expecting to make a few videos. I didnāt make a single one. At first, that really bothered me. Then two things happened that changed my perspective. The first was meeting up with Jordan @coveredcalletfinvesting for coffee. We have different investing styles and different approaches to creating content, but sitting across the table from another creator reminded me that thereās always a person behind the camera. We talked about YouTube, investing, life, and the challenge of balancing family, work, and creating content. The second happened completely out of the blue. While I was away, a gentleman walked up to me and asked, āAre you The Crazy Canuck Investor?ā We talked about investing for a few minutes before going our separate ways. That conversation stayed with me. It wasnāt the recognition that stayed with me. It was realizing these videos are reaching real people. When I started making videos three years ago, I wasnāt trying to build a channel. I was trying to build a better future for my family while documenting the journey in case it helped someone else. These last two weeks reminded me that the videos are only one part of that journey. Even though I havenāt published anything, I havenāt stopped investing. I havenāt stopped learning. Iāve continued refining our familyās retirement planānot just what we invest in, but how we accumulate, how weāll eventually decumulate, how to be tax efficient, and how to build something that will last. One thing I appreciated while I was away was Blossom. Even though I wasnāt making videos, I could still stay connected to the investing community, keep learning from others, and continue sharing pieces of my own journey. A quick shoutout to @maxstocks and the entire Blossom team. Youāve built a community where people can learn from one another, share ideas, and stay connectedāeven during those times when life gets busy. Sometimes we get so focused on creating that we forget why we started in the first place. These last couple of weeks reminded me. For that, Iām grateful.
