Many investors in Canada build their portfolios around popular ETFs like $VFV, $XEQT And there is nothing wrong with that. But one thing is worth asking: How much of your portfolio depends on Canada and the U.S. continuing to lead? The global market is bigger than North America. 🇯🇵 Japan — home to innovative companies and a changing corporate landscape. 🇹🇼 Taiwan — a critical player in the global semiconductor supply chain. 🇰🇷 South Korea — a leader in technology and manufacturing. 🌍 Europe & emerging markets — millions of consumers and businesses creating growth opportunities. Diversification is not about predicting the next winner. It is about owning pieces of the global economy and reducing the risk of being concentrated in one region. The best-performing market of the next decade may not be the same one that led the last decade. A truly global portfolio doesn’t just own yesterday’s winners — it stays invested in tomorrow’s possibilities. 🌱 Do you have exposure outside North America?

Japan is done, they sell more adult diapers than baby diapers and they’re in a debt bond crisis. Europe is screwed beyond belief. China is imploding. Me ex wife is East Indian; India will always be a disaster. The USA holds the most powerful and largest businesses in the world; Canada has the worlds largest secure oil reserves in the world and the worlds best banking system. I travel a lot and my partner has been to over 100 countries, Doctors Without Borders. Canada & Australia no 1; USA no 2; New Zealand no. 3. Nothing else is worth spending a dollar in other than as a tourist.

Taco has shown me how essential it is to have international stock but even with all his manipulation, the US dollar being the currency of the world means America is not in the dark yet.

$ZEQT because I dislike the total US market index ($ITOT) as it buys a bunch of small cap / micro cap junk. It also holds $SPCX which i refuse to hold, and I don't want any big upcoming IPOs either. S&P 1500 is what ZEQT holds and I trust the committee with strict criteria for each company in the index. Throw some $CASV in for small cap value.
