If money feels chaotic right now, this is for you. Markets are volatile. Costs are up. And if you don’t have a system, it all just feels like noise. Here’s where to start: ✅ Build your base first. Before investing a single dollar, have 3 months of expenses saved in a HISA. This is your calm in the storm. ✅ Automate the boring part. Set up automatic transfers on payday. Pay yourself first, every time, without thinking about it. ✅ Open a TFSA if you haven’t. It’s the most powerful free tool Canadians have. Every dollar of growth inside it? Yours, tax-free. ✅ Start simple. You don’t need to pick stocks. One diversified ETF like XEQT is all most people need to begin building real wealth. ✅ Stop waiting to feel ready. The market rewards time, not timing. Starting messy beats not starting perfectly. Financial security isn’t about earning more, it’s about having a system that works while you sleep. You don’t need to figure it all out today. You just need to take one step. 🌱 What was YOUR first step toward financial clarity? Drop it below, let’s inspire each other. DYOR | Not financial advice

I started slow because I thought it was some complex, coded puzzle. It is not. You're allowed to invest at your own pace, tolerance, and preferences. Remember, this is your game and no one else's. Play it as you will, but you must play. If you watch from the sidelines, you lose.

Our first step toward financial clarity? Actually sitting down and calculating our net worth. We’ve been avoiding it for months. Afraid of what we’ll find. But that number — uncomfortable as it was — became our starting line. Now we check in regularly. Not just to track progress, but to appreciate how far we’ve come. The discomfort was worth it.

I got lucky and had an employee share investment plan. When I found about it I got excited and signed up. Best first step and checks all the boxes

One of the first steps for me was tracking my bet worth every month since several years ago, as well as jotting down every expense item category and amount for budgeting purposes. Great post Lisa!
