"MSTE Ruined my Life" - HOW!?
With all my followers - i often get random single DMs from people. But this single message - and I won't say from whom.... really caught my attention.
The simple DM message was: "MSTE ruined my life"
Why did this catch my attention? Why did it bother me? ....
Because I can say ONE THING I HAVE PREACHED from the BIGGEST SOAPBOX even before I started my YouTube PIIverse Channel last summer - AND - in pretty much 1/2 my YouTube videos including videos like the one I released only a few weeks ago called "Diversification Mistake That Destroys Portfolios" - is DIVERSIFY DIVERSIFY DIVERSIFY !!
To me... among all the main strategies when building and managing YOUR investment portfolio, DIVERSIFICATION IS THE MOST CRITICAL! The more you hold in any one investment - EVEN THOSE YOU THINK ARE CONSERVATIVE AND SAFE - the bigger the IMPACT RISK to your portfolio. Yet soo many investors - both newcomers and even some seasoned investors - don't take diversification serious enough - or they think they can trust the invest will not go poof (remember Enron? remember Northern Telcom?) - or they have been convinced by social media that keep DCA'ing and buying more because you will get so rich when it recovers...
So - getting back to this message about MSTE ruining this person's life....
I hold MSTE. but unlike soo many in Blossom and the DIY investing community - I am not overly excited about it. Currently it makes up %0.6 of my portfolio. At Cost it made up 2.6% of my portfolio.
BUT!!! My investment strategy says that a JUICER like MSTE is categorized as (single stock underlying in a CC etfs) cannot hold more than 3% of my portfolio weight. As such, I already invested 2.6% at cost to MSTE - I will not buy the dips as my #1 priority is to honor my Holding Weight targets.
If this person had a similar strategy where a very risky investment like MSTE only made up less than 5% of his/her portfolio.... IT WOULD NOT RUINED HIS/HER LIFE!
So please investor new and old - take diversification MUCH MORE SERIOUSLY. All this money you have invested in your portfolio is YOUR money YOUR retirement YOUR future. Don't let poor strategy ruin YOUR LIFE!
