Random Investing Opinions/Takes Nobody Asked ForâŚ
This is all in good fun, but also things I truly believe after decades of investing...
- Simplicity compounds, complexity eventually collapses
- Bitcoin is a speculative asset...
- TAM is a pipe dream & means little for a companyâs prospects
- Successful investing starts w/humility & accepting less certainty over what comes next
- Paying up for 'certainty', within reason, is excellent capital allocation
- Buying the dip isnât a strategy...
- Short-term thinking often leads to irrational decisions
- If youâre chasing the latest investing fad, youâre most likely late to the party
- 'Generational buying opportunities' aren't what most think they are
- Itâs never "everyone", "no one" or "nobodyâ as many narratives suggestâŚ
- Conviction only matters if you're right, so double-check your homework
- A stock trading off its high doesn't equate to âtrading at a discount'
- Arrogance rarely ends well for investors, which is so appropriate
- Succumb to FOMO and youâll be hard pressed to find discipline again
- Valuation might not matter now, but it will before you know itâŚ
I realize there's no brilliance behind any of that and donât expect any of it to change the way you invest, so take from it what you will or take nothing at all if that's your preference. My real message? Investing has changed my life & my family's life for the better & I hope it can do the same for you. Well, most of you at least! CheersâŚ
