Shrinkflation of gaming

A few games I have recently bought have come with a bit of a suprise.

for starters this is somthing that is already happening widespread across the gaming industry and Nintendo are one of the few puting it on the box.

You buy a game now and it is just a 16 digit key code for the store. yep, you dont exactly own the game you bought, just the rights to use it as long as it is on the store.

This happends to save money on memory cards because fitting a 90 Gig game cost a bit of money. my real issue Is that this savings is not past on to the end user.

Im happy Nintendo is telling me this, but when i buy the new final fantasy and it is 90 gigs but they charge me $60 I feel very good. Pokopia being 10 gigs and charging me $99 and still only being a key seems pretty lazy.

That may be a diffence between square and Pokémon co. I feel a little betrayed when this happened pretty simultaneously.

What makes me the most mad is the move away from discs. I love the feeling of picking up a new game. Buying it from the online store and having it download just isn’t the same

You must be dreaming if you think any savings is going to get passed down to consumers. Just like everyone is dreaming if AI is going to make anything cheaper like they promise or dynamic pricing or any other gimmicky bs they try to push
