What do you think about “Trump Accounts” ?

For anyone who hasn’t seen it yet — these are the new investment-style accounts being discussed for babies born this year, meant to give kids a head start with long-term savings.
The idea is basically:
💰 Start investing for a child from birth
📈 Let compounding grow over 18+ years
🏦 Potential government + family contributions (depending on setup)
It reminds me of a mix between a Roth IRA for kids + 529 plan energy, but focused on long-term investing instead of just education.
My question is:
Would you actually use something like this for your kids, or just stick with a 529 / brokerage account instead? ETFs like $VTI, $VOO, $VT
I feel like compounding from day 1 could be powerful either way.

Imagine not taking advantage of an $1,000 gift for your children's future, from a guy who's the temporary head of the US government, because you don't like the guy personally.

Most politicians (including Trump) have done their very best to saddle our children with debt. At least this program is a step in the right direction.

I only was able to get 1 acct not sure why since we applied for both but they don’t meet the criteria but we created it anyways. People need to leave their FN feelings at home or move out of the country. FFS

In what world could this be a scheme. The money is in a account in your kids named managed by JP Morgan (I think). It's not like trump is collecting the money and into his account
