What does the VIX mean?
This was another one I had no clue what it meant.
It is pretty much an estimate of what the S&P 500 will do within the next 30 days. (Short for volatility index)
Higher VIX means greater uncertainty.
So if the VIX goes down, then market is more stable etc. Usually the S&P and the vix move opposite of each other, so on a down day for stocks youโll see the VIX jump up.
