A History of Market Corrections
Market corrections are a normal part of investing, not an exception. Historically, the S&P 500 has experienced a 5% decline approximately three times per year, a 10% correction about every 16 months, and a 20% bear market roughly every 5.5 years.
The key to long-term investing isn't avoiding every market decline. It's understanding that volatility is inevitable and maintaining the discipline to stay invested through market cycles.
