Since simplifying REQT from 14 ETFs to just 4 on September 15, I’ve decided to move the portfolio on Wealthsimple back to self-directed investing rather than automated self-investing. With 14 ETFs, automation made a lot of sense because it allowed for a very simple rebalancing process. When new money was deposited, the feature was automatically bringing the losing positions back on target. With 4 ETFs, paying for such a feature was a bit overkill, because I can easily handle the purchases myself and avoid the management fee. At the current portfolio size, that’s roughly $30 CAD/month in fees I no longer need to pay. The fee was capped at $250 + tax per year, so it wasn’t huge, but if the service is no longer really adding value, there’s no compelling reason to keep paying for it. A nice bonus of the self-directed account is that Blossom can now sync the trades automatically again (it could not sync with the automated self-investing account, so I had to manually enter the trades). For anyone new to my REQT portfolio, the holdings are divided as follows: 🔵 40% ZEQT - Global indexes / market-cap exposure 🟠 40% FEQT - Global factor exposure 💡 10% FINN - Global innovation 🚀 10% ORBX - Space innovation So 80% globally diversified equity exposure, split between traditional indexing and systematic factors, with the remaining 20% allocated to higher-conviction innovation positions. Diversified. Simple. Innovative. Built for the long term. And now… a little cheaper to run too!!

What everyone is too afraid to ask. When is the new REQT merch coming out with the updated holdings? :D
