It is unacceptable that our government would even consider surrendering an iota of Canadian sovereignty to bureaucrats 5,000 kilometres away. It is anti-democratic and deeply troubling, particularly given how deliberate and premeditated the approach appears to be. From an economic standpoint, expanding trade with the EU makes sense. But greater trade does not require surrendering regulatory autonomy. Hitching Canada to a distant regulatory regime would be an act of economic self-harm.

Funny how Carney specifically states he's not looking to join the EU as a member, only to create an alliance, yet his critics will keep pushing it to read as "member". That's comical.
