Another @BuildCanada poll highlighting the mindset that has taken hold in Canada after more than a decade of economic stagnation and declining living standards. 75% say Canada should “hold firm” in the trade dispute, even if the economic costs persist. Yet large majorities reject the consequences when they hit personally: higher taxes, retirement losses or greater risk of losing a job. It’s easy to support expensive policy in the abstract. It’s much harder when the bill arrives at your own door. After 11 years of Liberal government, this disconnect between political preferences and economic consequences may be one of the clearest explanations for where Canada finds itself today. @talukder9712@etf.go

Trump is an "ask for an inch, take a foot" kind of guy. He'll draft a trade deal barely adequate for Canada then he'll renege on it and want more. Good enough is never good enough. That's why I believe that we have to stand strong or we're going to lose more than we bargained for. Our PM and his team is actively seeking new trade partners and needs to keep it up. Canadian companies are even breaking ties with the US (ex: Chapman's walking away from US distributors) and they need to keep it up, too. Short term pain for long term gain is a tough pill to swallow but we can't allow ourselves to be robbed. We're a resilient nation, we'll be fine. ❤️🇨🇦

Canada is in a bad spot. The country has enjoyed a lopsided trade partnership that now the leaders think that was normal. Unfortunately the citizens are going to pay the price as the "leaders" talk tough but don't have goods to back it up. The thought that China will save Canada is laughable, just think Venezuela.
