I still remember the day I bought my very first fractional share of $VFV. It was just five dollars. Honestly, it felt almost silly at the time, what difference could $5 possibly make? But here’s the thing: that tiny seed started growing. Slowly at first, almost unnoticeable. Then, as the dividends reinvested and the markets kept moving, the power of compounding began to reveal itself. It’s like pushing a snowball down a hill. At the top, it’s small and light. But give it time and momentum, and suddenly it’s rolling faster, getting bigger, and you realize… the snowball is no longer being pushed by you, it’s moving under its own power. That’s what’s happening with my investments. What started as a $5 experiment has turned into something so much greater, and the curve feels like it’s ramping up on its own now. If I could go back and tell my past self one thing, it would be this: 👉 Don’t wait until you have more. Start with what you have. Because compounding doesn’t care about perfection, it only cares about time. One share, one step, one decision at a time… and before you know it, your future looks completely different. Just start. Your snowball is waiting. ⛄️📈

Beautifully worded! So many people use “I don’t have enough to make any real difference” as their excuse not to start

Fantastic post :) that $5 may only turn into $20, but even just having money invested will motivate you to try and save/invest more. Once you understand investing and compound interest, it becomes much easier to invest!

Love this story @retired— it perfectly captures how wealth really builds: time + consistency. A lot of new investors underestimate how powerful small starts can be. What I usually tell people I mentor is that compounding works across all asset classes — whether it’s ETFs, dividend payers, or even newer exposures like Bitcoin ETFs/mining pools. The key is exactly what you said: start early and stay consistent. 🚀
