Futures right now:
• Dow: up ~0.1%, about 42 points
• S&P 500: up ~0.1%
• Nasdaq-100: down ~0.1% — the weakest of the three
Friday was a strong finish: the S&P 500 closed near a record at 7,811, and all three indexes ended the week higher — it was the Nasdaq's fourth winning week in a row.
• Oil is the thing to watch. Brent is holding above $100 a barrel after Houthi strikes on Riyadh's airport killed 12 over the weekend, and Trump says the US may join Saudi strikes against them. On the flip side, Trump says Russia and Ukraine agreed to stop hitting each other's energy sites.
• Quiet on the data front — no economic releases today, and the bond market is closed for Columbus Day (stocks are still open). The 10-year yield ended Friday near 5.24%, close to a 24-year high.
• Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack speaks on the economy at 12:50 PM ET. Bank earnings kick off tomorrow with JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, and Citi.
• Gold is hovering near $4,200 an ounce — close to record territory. Bitcoin is little changed around $83,400.
Have a great day💵
