I just followed a Wall Street Wolf 🐺 into New Gold - a Wall Street favorite in the metals & mining space. The day after, New Gold reported on the public news wire that gold and copper production was up significantly in 2024. Reporting earnings on February 13th - just before Valentine's Day. 😍 Here's the scoop: On Wednesday, just before the close, 10,400 CALL LEAP contracts were bought @ $0.30 premium for the $3.50 strike, 1/16/2026 expiration for a total cost of $312,000 (not including $CME fees). See attached chart. At the TIME, the 10,400 volume significantly exceeded the 791 Open Interest. This Volume is 2 orders of magnitude >> than the Open Interest on Wednesday. This morning, the 10,400 contracts moved to the Open Interest. See chart below. Per the Najarians approach, I dropped DOWN to the next lower strike, $3.00, and picked up 20 BUY CALL LEAP contracts for the same expiration. Because I am feeling particularly greedy, I also decided to BUY 100 CALL LEAP contracts AT THE SAME STRIKE AS THE WOLF ($3.50). My cost basis: 100 contracts @$0.36 in 1/16/2026 $3.50 incl. $CME fees: $3,666.10 20 contracts @$0.50 in 1/16/2026 $3.00 incl. $CME fees: $1,013.22 Total Cost Basis: $4,679.32 I have very high conviction that this will be a particular JUICY LEAP........and we have a lllllloooonnnnggggg TIME to let it play out. For background, the spot price of Gold and the US Dollar have an inverse relationship where when one goes up the other goes down. Since October last year when the markets decided that TRUMP had won the election, the US Dollar has been climbing. Amazingly, the spot price of Gold has been showing strength as well. So for the last 3 months, this historically strong-correlated relationship is broken. This can only be very bullish for Gold.
