Gold, Geopolitics and the Rise of BRICS.
I find the current geopolitical environment particularly interesting.
Gold has always been more than a commodity. It is a reserve asset, a store of value and, during periods of political and economic uncertainty, often a reflection of how investors and governments perceive risk.
Today, that uncertainty remains significant. Conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, tensions between major powers, trade disputes and questions around the future of the global monetary system are all shaping investment decisions. At the same time, central-bank demand for gold remains strong. In Q2 2026 alone, central banks purchased a net 289 tonnes of gold. (gold.org)
What interests me even more is the growing influence of BRICS.
BRICS countries are discussing deeper financial cooperation and greater use of national currencies for trade and settlements. (pib.gov.in) This does not mean the U.S. dollar is suddenly being replaced, but it does raise an important question about how global reserves could evolve in an increasingly multipolar world.
For me, this strengthens the long-term conversation around gold. If countries increasingly prioritize reserve diversification, financial independence and protection from geopolitical risk, could gold become even more strategically important?
As an investor with gold exposure, that is what Iโll be watching.
The question is: as BRICS grows in economic and geopolitical influence, will gold become an even bigger part of the changing global financial order?
Personal perspective, not financial advice.
