How owning rentals long term help form the mindset
I had a great time at the Vancouver Blossom event although I barely took pictures & didn’t get to meet a few blossom members I was hoping to.. But I did have a great discussion with Adrian @canadiantshirt about how to navigate through market dips/crashes and even future bear markets. Although I’ve only been in the stocks just over 2 years I’ve had rentals over 20 years and with that I was able to step back & do nothing when markets dipped bad in April . With rentals your value can drop suddenly via market change & selling is never an option. You watch, add more money in repairs after bad tenants etc, maybe cry a little & carry on long term until it’s the right time to sell. I did add a little funds in April but not all as I thought maybe it was the start of a bear market .. I was wrong. No one can predict what will happen next in the stock markets so like Adrian said the best approach is to put some extra money in when your funds go on sale & keep investing no matter what through ATH & through the dips. Set aside a dedicated amount & just keep adding … the stock markets should be considered a long term approach even if it’s super easy to just press that sell button. Even if you start later in life, keep building & your future self will thank you! Sounds like it was an awesome time!!! And a great story. I am looking forward to my first blossom event in Toronto. I officially booked my trip yesterday.

I’ve notice as well rentals are a pain in the butt yes it’s nice letting someone else pay your property off but once renters stop paying and start breaking stuff on top it’s hell! But a bear market with 10-20% drop in the market is amazing to buy that’s what I did at April I just kept buying on the way down even at these ATH prices I’m still buying. Real estate and stock market has always been a 30 year waiting game that is how we get out of this alive. Great picture!! 😊
