Hype Fades - You Can’t Always Win 🏆❌

Remember those companies people talk about 6 months ago? A year ago? Probably not because they aren’t popular anymore. Hyped up stocks don’t last, they fade when they start to fail.

Popular “hyped” stocks get pushed to the forefront of news articles and social media posts. More often than not, they’re accompanied with clickbait headlines and missing information. Shove a picture of a chart going up and you’re good to go.

These companies are usually unprofitable or in someway unpredictable. In this case HIMS was a speculative healthcare company making a weight loss drug and providing telehealth for consumers. Inevitably the business faced lawsuits and FDA issues so they scrapped their weight loss drug and the business shifted entirely. The stock dropped over 70% from all time high and hasn’t recovered

This company was incredibly talked about on social media platforms like blossom, and yet once they start failing everyone goes quiet, convenient huh?

Be careful of who you take advice from, if they aren’t willing to show you their bad investments they aren’t trustworthy (I’ve made some crap investments, feel free to ask if you so desire).

Once investors realize they can’t win everything, they’ll only focus on the next hype. Hype isn’t even for small companies, businesses like $PLTR $NVDA and $HOOD are pushed and pumped by everyone, until suddenly they stop making money.

Hype only lasts so long, businesses will inevitably rise and fall, you can’t predict every winner successfully, it would be ignorant to think so.

You WILL make mistakes, but don’t be afraid to show them. Use them to learn and continue on, but don’t get caught up in popularity. Investing isn’t a contest, that’s how you ruin yourself. As always, do your research and happy investing!

I agree with your post… except your examples…

We’re throwing Nvidia into the same baskets of stocks like HIMS and HERS??? Cmon….

If I recall you were the one screaming about quality content on here and then I see that comparison. Don’t lose credibility. Nvidia has completely grown into any expectation it ever had. 4 years ago I remember seeing the posts about Nvidia being Cisco of 1999… what happened? It’s an incredible company, with incredible earnings growth, it creates tangible assets and trades at a very reasonable valuation. Don’t compare it to HIMS and HERS 😂

Even your Robinhood example is a little questionable. I could name you others to include as examples. Not quality businesses.

Its easy for people this after the fall has happened. I was saying this since the beginning for hims. Hype mixed with crazy growth projections never ends well....
