Just dropped a deep dive on VFV. Most people see an 0.08% MER, but inside an RRSP, foreign withholding tax pushes your real cost to about 0.25%. A few technical callouts from the breakdown: - Concentration: 505 stocks, but the top 10 make up almost 40% of the fund. - Tracking: Trails its benchmark by 24 bps over 10 years (purely MER + trading frictions, since the benchmark already bakes in tax). - Currency: Unhedged USD strength gave VFV an ~12% lead over hedged VSP in 2024 alone. I also compare VFV against VOO, HXS, and USCL, and show how we position it in our own portfolio. Watch the full video here: https://youtube.com/watch?v=PMM-QwWlTNE&si=KP0lCKRn9Y7EhVuC

As a Canadian, I would say that $ZSP is better. Well honestly both funds are essentially Identical but I'd rather support a Canadian institution.

Really confused why you would eat up all your RRSP contribution room, with Canadian listed stocks? VFV is better in a TFSA or non registered account. VOO is the best in a RRSP, you can easily avoid paying high fees on currency conversions with Norbert's Gambit, too.
