Started investing by buying high yielding dividend stocks. Didn’t know what I was doing. I thought they were safe investments providing me with cash flow. But then it clicks for me, total return is all that matters. Investing for dividends (if not retired) is just forfeiting wealth down the line. Watching my capital deteriorate while the markets ripped higher was humiliating. Sold everything, fixed my portfolio, focused on world class companies, and here I am now. Hope this clicks for someone out there. Examples of what I was in included $BCE$AQN$SRU-UN $REI-UN $TD$CM$T$CNR$RCI-B $VDY

Puts a smile on my face (much like your profile picture) when I hear that things click for an investor and they realize that total risk-adjusted returns are what truly matter. We’re not interested in buying based on yield. We’re interested in buying based on business quality.

Congratulations!! I was invested in the same stocks, luckily I sold high and didn’t lose capital. I took a different approach because I’m 51 and bought CDN/US CC ETFs, this month I’ll make $9000.00 in dividends. 🤑
