I spoke to a police officer today in the lower mainland who had a 300k down-payment for his house in Chilliwack, BC and his monthly mortgage payment is still $4500....thats 3 times my mortgage payment and we make roughly the same salary.... I literally don't know how folks out in Vancouver and Toronto do it? Unless someone has rich parents or living in tiny places... is everyone else just house poor?

Usually people in Vancouver and Toronto just have a much higher cost of living because housing takes so much of the monthly spend. I live in Vancouver and it isn’t cheap! That cop will need to make some extra overtime to afford $4500 after taxes a month for mortgage!

950 sq ft townhome in Vancouver, $4000 a month mortgage 🫣 it’s a sad reality

It's the same policies and managed decline that is leading the riots in France 🇫🇷 and the rest of Europe. Both provinces have flooded the cities with third world immigrants and raised taxes to pay the additional social benefits. Toronto alone has seen a 20% rise in property taxes in the last 3 years. Vancouver just voted in a green mayor so expect more of the same and worse

Ontarian here, can't even afford rent without needing a roommate or second income these days. Moved in with family following a lay off. Don't think I can afford a home for a very long time!!
