There’s a quiet kind of luck in waking up where I do, watching the sun come up over Mount Baker from this small corner of Vancouver Island. Not lost on me that while I get this view and the freedom to build a life on my own terms, a lot of the world, closer to home in British Columbia and far beyond, is dealing with far heavier things. Just a reminder to myself: this isn’t something I fully earned. It’s something I get to appreciate.

What a spectacular view! Where is that Ian? I’ve not seen a view like that while in Vancouver. Beautiful. And I agree, we’ve been lucky in Canada not to experienced the hardship of war, famine, calamity. We shouldn’t take it for granted.
