Unfortunately not clickbait and has actually happened. 🫠 A few months ago there was a prompt to "Open another margin account" within Wealthsimple, and what it actually did was "convert" an existing account instead of creating a brand new one.. which led to the situation that is explained in the video with much more detail. Wealthsimple has made some great changes and product releases in the past few years, but some things have definitely felt a bit too rushed or implemented too quickly which has caused things to break at times. Wealth simple is.growing on me. But it still has some issues like generating forms, let's say for something like a transfer or tax document, the resulting files are blank, or the downloaded file fails to open. The interface and features evolve very quickly and things break. Support helps and fixes things quick and follows up though.

I’ve had a similar experience with Wealthsimple. I created my own local app using Claude, which imports my activity and holding CSV data from Wealthsimple. This allows me to track my revenue, growth, and cash flow just like a real business. However, lately, every month, the CSV format changes for no apparent reason. Statement formats also get updated, which is a hassle because I have to keep up with these changes and update my app to ensure it works. I’ve tried contacting their support team, but they haven’t responded. I’m waiting for Robinhood to launch in Canada. I’m planning to switch to them the moment it’s available. Edit: I recommend you track your LTV and debt on your own from the activities sheet, WS data on their app is not 100% accurate.
