I got paid $38 today from $vdy Thatās not a huge amount, but VDY is around $79 right now, so my dividend is basically enough to buy half a share without adding any of my own money YAY! I invest in VDY for exposure to Canadian dividend-paying companies. Holdings include RBC, TD, BMO, Scotiabank, Enbridge, CIBC, CNRL and Suncor. BUT dividends arenāt free money. When a company pays a dividend, that cash is leaving the company. What matters is total return: the change in the investmentās value plus the distributions Thatās also why VDY isnāt my core holding. Iām still more growth-oriented, with XEQT as my core. That being said it's SO NICE to see that dividend land in my account hehe!! Right now, $38 gets me about half a share -Who knows what this looks like 10 or 15 years from now. Nothing is guaranteed, of course. But it would be pretty cool to get to a point where my dividends can buy me a full share, and then some š«Ŗš Do you like dividends?

As a young investor , people tell me to stay away from dividends. The way I go on about is to start accumulating shares early as suppose to later. Roughly 10-12 percent I believe personally should also focus on dividend as the percentage will grow over time as you grow !
