Today’s trading session with the trading community was a really good one, and I’m grateful for how everything came together. There’s something special about starting a new month with a result like this. Not because every day is going to look the same, but because it’s always good to see preparation, patience, and execution come together. 🙏 A short prayer before I share today’s results Lord, thank You for the wisdom to make the right decisions today. Keep our hearts calm, our minds clear, and our feet steady. Help us not to get carried away when things are going well, and give us the discipline to walk away when it’s time. Amen. 🙏 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights.” – James 1:17 That’s the verse I’m holding onto today. There are certain moments where you simply have to stop and appreciate how far God has brought you. And today is one of those moments. 📊 Now to today’s trading. The positions below have already been closed, so these are not unrealized profits. $NVDA$227.50 Call 165 contracts Average price: $4.50 Total cost: $74,250 Closed value: $177,787.50 Secured profit: +$103,537.50 One thing I want to point out from this NVDA setup is the importance of understanding delta and gamma together. The option had a delta of around 0.836, which meant the contract had significant sensitivity to NVDA’s price movement. But delta isn’t a number you can just look at once and forget about. As the stock moves, delta can change too. That’s where gamma becomes important. Gamma tells you how quickly delta can change as the stock moves, so a strong move in NVDA can change the option’s exposure quite a bit. This is why you have to keep reassessing an options position as the stock moves. The risk profile you had when you entered the trade isn’t necessarily the same risk profile you have several hours later after a large move. That’s one of the big differences between trading options and simply buying shares. $BE$272.50 Call 150 contracts Average price: $10.80 Total cost: $162,000 Closed value: $281,250 Secured profit: +$119,250 The BE setup gives me a good opportunity to talk about implied volatility because this is something a lot of newer options traders tend to overlook. The implied volatility on this contract was around 137%. When you see numbers that high, you need to understand that the options market is already pricing in a significant amount of expected movement. That means you can’t focus on the stock’s direction alone. You could be right about the stock moving higher and still end up with a disappointing return on your option if implied volatility drops significantly afterward. That’s why I always pay attention to what the market is already pricing into a contract before getting too excited about a potential move. Sometimes, the question isn’t simply, “Will the stock go up?” It’s also, “Will it move enough to justify the premium I’m paying?” That’s an important part of understanding what you’re getting into before buying an options contract. $SPCX$148 Call 150 contracts Average price: $5.15 Total cost: $77,250 Closed value: $171,000 Secured profit: +$93,750 The SPCX position is a good reminder that an option’s premium is influenced by more than just the stock’s current price movement. Several factors affect an option’s premium, including the underlying stock price, strike price, time remaining until expiration, implied volatility, and other factors. This is why two calls on the same stock can behave very differently, even when they’re both bullish. One might be closer to the money with a higher delta, while another could be far out of the money and require a much bigger move in the stock before it starts gaining meaningful value. So when someone says, “This call is only $2, while that one is $8, so the $2 call is cheaper,” that’s not enough information to make a fair comparison. The lower premium could simply reflect a different strike price, a different probability of finishing in the money, less time value, or different volatility exposure. You have to understand what you’re actually paying for before deciding which contract makes sense. $CSCO$106 Call 168 contracts Average price: $3.75 Total cost: $63,000 Closed value: $117,600 Secured profit: +$54,600 One thing I always pay attention to when trading options is the difference between the strike price and the actual breakeven price at expiration. For example, if you purchase a $106 call for $3.75, your breakeven at expiration would be $109.75, before considering any fees. That’s because you have to add the premium you paid ($3.75) to the strike price ($106) to calculate your breakeven. A lot of people see a stock trading above the strike price and immediately assume their call option is profitable. But that’s not always how it works. Before expiration, an option still has time value, and several factors can affect its market price. Once expiration arrives, that extrinsic value disappears. What matters then is the intrinsic value of the option compared to the premium you originally paid. This is why understanding the difference between intrinsic value, the premium you paid, and your breakeven price is so important. Once you understand how these three things work together, the meaning of “breakeven” becomes much easier to understand. $MRVL$265 Call 100 contracts Average price: $8.10 Total cost: $81,000 Closed value: $135,750 Secured profit: +$54,750 The MRVL setup is a good example of why moneyness matters. With MRVL trading above the $265 strike, the call had intrinsic value because the underlying was already above the strike. But the premium wasn’t made up entirely of intrinsic value. There was still an extrinsic portion tied to time and volatility. As expiration gets closer, that extrinsic value can decay. That’s why an option can lose value even when the underlying doesn’t necessarily make a major move against you. This is also why I don’t like hearing people say, “I’ll just hold it until it comes back.” With shares, you may have plenty of time to wait. With an option, the clock is always running. And as that clock gets closer to zero, time becomes much less forgiving. 📊 TOTAL SECURED PROFIT: +$425,887.50 That’s $425,887.50 in secured profit from five completed positions today. The profits have been secured. I’m not counting any open positions in that number. 📊 Positions Still Active I still have a few active positions I’m watching: $AVGO $JPM $AMZN $MU $DELL $PLTR $AMD These positions are still open, so there’s nothing to add to today’s realized result from them yet. I’ll let the market decide what happens next instead of trying to force anything. That’s one thing trading has taught me over time: you don’t have to make something happen. Sometimes the best thing you can do is simply wait, stay patient, and let the setup develop. 🧎➡️ Today was good. 🙏 I’m thankful for it. But next week is a new week, and the market can always bring something different. The market doesn’t owe anybody anything. 📊 Trading with the community today was a great experience, and I appreciate everyone who continues to follow along! The profit is nice. But understanding why the position moved is what stays with you. Knowing what delta is doing. Knowing what gamma can do. Understanding implied volatility. Understanding time decay. Knowing the difference between intrinsic and extrinsic value. Understanding why strike selection matters. Knowing how expiration changes the entire trade. Those are the things that make you better over time. Because eventually, you stop looking at an option and simply thinking: “This could make a lot of money.” Instead, you start asking: “What exactly am I paying for, what needs to happen for this trade to work, and what happens if I’m wrong?” That’s a much better place to be. And that’s the mindset I want to continue carrying through October. No chasing. No forcing. No getting carried away because a position is green. Take the opportunities when they make sense, protect the capital, and know when it’s time to walk away. Today gave me a reason to be grateful. +$425,887.50 secured. Five trades completed. Seven positions still active and being watched. And October is still very young. I’ll take the win, be grateful for today, and enjoy the rest of the weekend. Next week, we get back to work, watch the market, manage the risk, and take things one setup at a time. Have a beautiful weekend, everyone. 🙏 Take a step back, clear your mind, enjoy your time with family and loved ones, and come back next week refreshed and ready. ❤️
