Remember studying for Biology or Geography exams? Were you any good at it? If so, you are going to rock it on your aim to financial independence. And I’m talking about the TIME it takes to get there. If those subjects were a struggle for you, it’s ok, you’ll just have to study and reread a little bit more. For some, it comes easy, tell me the capital of Norway and it’s a permanent “ingrain in the brain”. For others, it takes TIME and must be reiterated over and over until it sinks in. Well, it works that way with the market too. The point is - the broader your knowledge of the available opportunities (different stocks) and what these companies do, the higher your level of outperformance as you will be able to more accurately READ and TIME the markets. Look out! Here come the Conventionalists with their single-digit annualized returns at best with their Peter Lynch quotes about limiting your investing only to stocks in what you know - like your field of work. Yikes! While I don’t disagree with investing in your workplace industry to identify great opportunities, I do disagree that you should stop there. That’s outdated advice that was relevant when the tedious and TIME-consuming process to research a company was to take a weeknight, go to your local library, pull the thickest book off the shelf (VALUE LINE), and turn to the page of the stock ticker of your research report, and get busy taking notes! Yes, that’s what we did when we were your age!?!?!? Instead, today’s tools and technology are just sitting there for you to relatively quickly start absorbing what most all companies do. This is not one to blow off. There’s some 4,500+ listed stocks in the major U.S exchanges (and over ~12,000 if you include OTC). Not saying to make 12,000 flashcards and learn it overnight (updated this sentence on 10-07-26 to reflect current)....but I am saying, while you are young, start expanding your universe of companies and what they do. This will facilitate you reaching a $2 million nest egg via double-digit annualized returns by the age of 50, not 70 (reference my post by Vic Lederman - “Why it is important to beat the S&P500”. And knowing the key tickers (stocks that drive sectors and subsectors) will greatly advance your performance. Can I make a suggestion on a good place to start? Go to State Street SPDR Sectors/Subsectors and jot down all 11 Sector and 21 Subsector ETF tickers. Then, take your TIME, take one of these 32 ETF tickers at a TIME and look into the stocks that make up the sector/subsector. How about 5 a month? That will greatly improve your knowledge of the markets and when you hear tickers in the news, it will help you connect the dots. And most importantly, it will bring context to our development of reading where we are in the cycle. If you just stay tuned to your current ticker universe, you have NO CHANCE to realize sustainable, double-digit annualized returns. The stocks working great for you today and in the near to midterm future won’t be working for you later. It’s just a fact. Either accept it or stubbornly keep hoping. Most of the investors on this site are setting up to get absolutely annihilated in about 2 years as they will continue holding the solid performance they are currently delivering with Conventionalist wisdom to just keep holding cliff dropping stocks. You don’t have to be a victim. But it takes an open mind and a willingness to learn more. So the large drop in stock prices over a short period of TIME (last 4 days), we’ll learn later in this series is an EXTREMELY BULLISH event. In fact, in this part of the cycle, market retracements are typically not less than 6%. We’re currently at 4%. And if you know the businesses behind the tickers, you’ll know where the economy is truly headed. For example, I bet many of you are a little nervous over the past 4 days? There will be a TIME for that, but we are nowhere near that now. Analysts are COLLECTIVELY upgrading and raising price targets during this market drop in a BIG way...Mohawk Industries(carpets), Lowe’s (Home improvement), Martin Marietta, Summit Materials, Eagle Materials (sand and gravel for Asphalt and concrete), ExxonMobil (gasoline), Valero (diesel for trucking), Copper Miners $TGB and $IVPAF (Dr. Copper tells you where the economy runs), Cleveland Cliffs ( $CLF ) and Nucor ( $NUE ) (Steel - industrial boom), on and on. It’s easy to see – no worry! At this point, for me, I can read where “the puck is going” not where the puck has been. Spend your precious financial learning TIME doing this instead of liking yet another post of someone proud of their DCA efforts .. and I promise you that you will quickly raise your performance relative to the masses. Retrospective commentary - October 7th 2026 I found myself with a little smile on my face rereading this KTS, as I now routinely see long-TIME followers (and more recent ones too!) rapidly identifying key tickers. I see them posting news and information about various publicly listed companies. I see members and followers recognizing trends and using their KTS radar to analyze and interpret the ever-increasing news flow designed to confuse you. Helping investors move closer to achieving financial independence with this series, which has been going on for over two years, is my motivation and satisfaction. 🏆 If you have been religiously reading this KTS repost series, you know that we currently have two specific trend watch groups. These are both great exercises to expand the list of tickers our members have become familiar with. Why Beskar? BECAUSE THE MOST IMPORTANT TICKERS of this economy are UNKNOWN to most at this point. Have you recently read one of those – often AI-generated – market briefs that a lot of traders put out on a daily basis? Maybe you have a favorite that you read every morning? Did you notice how - for the past two years - they just talk about a few tickers, mostly AI and Mag 7 names?… but very rarely talk about stocks in any other sector? Very rarely do they mention the companies that give you insight into what’s going on for the future of the economy. So ask yourself: how much do you really know about the REAL economy? Who is talking to you about the tickers that are actually foundational to how your society functions? AI - while a lion’s share of GDP at this moment in TIME - is not the economy. One of the most important concepts I have ever written lie in this KTS #16. On the surface it looks like nothing, but the implications are HUGE. Read it again: “If you just stay tuned to your current ticker universe, you have NO CHANCE to realize sustainable, double-digit annualized returns. The stocks working great for you today and in the near to midterm future won’t be working for you later. It’s just a fact. Either accept it or stubbornly keep hoping.” Because the most important tickers are also the ones nobody is talking about. They are TOMORROW’s WINNERS! 😉 They are the ones that will be working for you later. Think about some of Beskar winners in key industries. Energy Services…. Would you rather own $HAL , $SLB and $BKR ?........or would you rather ride up $FTI ? Miners…. Would you rather own $B and $NEM ? (we LOVE these stocks! 😍).......but would you rather own the $USAS and $TGB of the world?? Even Tech (which was the majority of our portfolio in 2023), would you have rather been in $GOOGL , $AAPL , and $META ………or would you have wanted to ride up $VRT and $PLTR (which few knew back then) from $7? Or $GLW from $30? What about this key industry we have been covering this past week following our analysis on end-of quarter repositioning? 🤔 Tomorrow’s winners may be in the 5 main slices of the pie chart attached to this post. 😉 At this point in the real estate/banking crisis cycle, monitoring the REAL economy is our most important task, and increasingly so. And we do it every week at Beskar Capital KTS. So… do you know your tickers? I always give you my best! 🏆 This is the Way! 🏄🌊
