Over the weekend, the war in Iran has everyone and their mother posting how "horrible" stocks would be on Monday. Come the end of Monday, my portfolio is up almost 2%. This is your reminder to stop caring and trying to predict daily movements of stocks. If you study macros, trends, and follow along with global issues you can create your own understanding of what's affecting markets. However, what you will never be able to do is accurately predict every daily movement. If I polled the vast majority of Blossom, I almost guarantee most investors would have said Monday would end in the red. As we can see, that was the complete opposite. $XEQT and $VFV both hitting 0.5-1% in the positive, and many tech stocks that many said would be wiped out like $NVDA and $GOOGL and yet both getting over 2% returns end of day. Investing long-term is not an easy game, that also means you need to stop obsessing over every small event affecting your investments. If we had still gone negative today, it would not have mattered in the slightest. Don't just say you can handle long-term investing, actually practice it. Stop checking the phone everyday, stop caring about the news everyday, just focus on your investments. I've made this exact post a handful of times over the past couple years because the reactions are always the same: Long-term investors constantly discussing short-term events. Don't try to predict or care about markets in the short-term, most of you will be investing for decades. As always, do your research and happy investing!

I think it depends on the type of investor youβre. People may say they are long term but I think most people are somewhere in between. In between means you have some stocks that need more attention and itβs totally fine to look at those and make the necessary moves. Even for long term investors it may pay off to sell at X and buy back the same stock / ETF at something lower than X because of certain news. You only make money in stocks when you sell (at the right price). Donβt let anyone tell you otherwise π

Funny enough I asked ChatGPT for their predictions yesterday, and they predicted a Monday/Tuesday rally. Then wed with sharp movement, direction depending on CPI info
