One of my goals this year was to build up the ETF side of my portfolio, and I’m really happy with the progress I’ve made. ETFs are now the majority of my portfolio and VTI alone is sitting at about 45%. So I’m giving myself a new goal: get VTI to 50% of my portfolio by January 2028. 5% sounds pretty simple, but the target keeps moving. About 80% of my new investment money is going into VTI, but I still like sprinkling some into individual companies I believe in. If those stocks outperform, they can grow faster than VTI and shift the percentages around again. I do own a few other ETFs and I’m keeping them. I know I could simplify even more, but that’s just a personal choice. For me, 50% isn’t a magic number. It’s another goal to keep me moving in the direction I wanted to go this year- building my position in low cost ETFs Currently 45.1% Let’s see where I am a year from now.
