Earlier this week, Trump said the US will stop trading with Europe if Canada joins the EU as an "associate member." Carney says the EU and Canada should ally to "protect" their markets and democracies from the US. A reminder that Trump imposed 50% tariffs on $20 billion worth of Canadian goods just a week before all this talk. Thoughts, my fellow Canadians?

I just ignore most of what he says as he has zero credibility. Also if he wants to start a second trade war going into the midterms with more allies he's more than welcome too 😆

As a Canadian, I’m glad we are opening other markets. Being vastly dependant on one country is very risky and it seems that we can’t trust our neighbors government for now. I think many are just too deep in their partisanery to be able to give an unbiased opinion. In my perspectives, Carney is the only adult in this scenario and he’s obviously 100x the brain Trump is. Personally, I’m glad it’s him leading the country at the moment. People are way to emotional when it comes to politics. Let’s be real, if you live in Canada and you fail to achieve your personal goals in life, it is not the government fault. Take responsibility for your decision (obviously some are born with more luck). You have access to everything one can need.Disclaimer: I did not vote for Carney last election.

Ask your self this question why carney want us to join eu because helps his Brookfield global transition fund 1 because he gets % of the profits can’t out that in a blind trust , all his investments for Canada are for his benefits for his investments not Canada , we were warned by many people about carney , sure trump crazy person but can’t just stop trade with them a lot of our business are with USA , Europe also has low gdp high immigration, woke laws , cbanz law ,carbon credit system etc not good thing for Canada especially with Alberta oil rich

I need to know what it means to be an Associate Member. We need to strengthen our trade partnerships outside the USA. It's just having options and getting a balance. EU can be a useful ally when it comes time to build up the trade routes and defense around the Artic Circle, I sort of see Canada needing to start building up infrastructure now for what will be needed in 10-20 years. At any point, we can de-escalate the trade war because the lowest cost is to trade between CAN-USA, logistically. And doing 180 on this from either side is always there, so they are going to push and push and see what they can get. Canada failed to prepare for this trade war, the Lost Decade, Energy was the key and keeping the flow of sending from the West to US to only buy it refined in the East is a contradiction of "Buy Canadian". Eventually the other shoe drops with the move USA made on Venezuela diminishing the need for Canadian oil. A really interesting move was how China and Brazil outmaneuvered the US with soybean trade.
