Blue wave night: can AMD's 45% growth beat a Democratic Congress?
Preliminary projections point to a Democratic sweep of both chambers: at least 235 House seats and 51 in the Senate, a net gain of 6. Maine, Ohio and Texas were still open at the time of writing, so the result can still shift.
Markets woke up nervous. S&P 500 futures fell about 1.2% and Nasdaq 100 futures about 2%, as investors priced in more gridlock and more scrutiny on Big Tech and AI. The 10-year yield dropped to about 4.90%, which helps growth stocks over time.
Meanwhile AMD, which I hold, grew revenue 45% to $13.38B with data center sales up 97% and Q4 guidance near $17.0B. Super Micro raised FY2027 guidance to $72-82B and Astera Labs grew revenue 154%.
My view: I don't sell AI because of an election. Congress can't cancel hyperscaler demand, so I see volatility, not a broken thesis. How are you positioning after the results?
