What am I doing wrong?

I’ve been trying to get into investments for the last 2 years and I still don’t understand how to really earn money like everyone says.

I went into this dormant midway of taking the money out when they reach their peak and waiting for the peaks, but people told me to keep the money in for years because it will grow more but then it just keeps going down?

PLEASE HELP ‼️‼️

Most of your shares are on individual companies AKA stock picking, that doesn't work on my experience, should do solid ETF's instead
