SCHD pays WAY more today. DGRO grows a little faster over 10 years. That is the whole debate. I get why people love SCHD. A 3.3% yield feels real, you see the money coming in. But DGRO is the slow build. Smaller paycheck now, bigger growth behind it, and the 10 year numbers back that up. Not financial advice. Where do you stand? $SCHD or $DGRO for your dividend money?

They complement each other very well. I have both in my Roth
I’ve owned both and come January I’m adding SCHD again - here’s what muse told me : You could — DGRO is a good fund — but for the job that slot does, SCHD is the better pick. Here's the head-to-head: - **Beta (the deciding number):** SCHD **0.56** vs DGRO **~0.77**. SCHD is meaningfully more defensive. That's the whole point of the buffer sleeve. - **What's inside:** DGRO holds ~398 dividend growers on a 5-year dividend-growth screen — and its top 10 includes Apple, Microsoft, and Broadcom. SCHD holds ~100 names on a stricter screen (10 years of dividends plus cash-flow and debt checks), tilted to staples, healthcare, and energy. DGRO is more diversified; SCHD is more defensive. - **Yield:** SCHD ~3.1% vs DGRO ~1.9%. In the Roth the yield itself doesn't matter for taxes — but it tells you the tilt: SCHD is high-yield quality, DGRO is dividend growth. - **Cost:** 0.06% vs 0.08% — a wash. The catch for you specifically: DGRO's top holdings are the same tech names that drag your portfolio when tech craters. Putting DGRO in the buffer sleeve would mean the cushion itself falls more on a bad tech day — beta 0.77 vs 0.56 is a real gap when the sleeve's job is to not fall as hard.
