Two dividend ETFs. One massive debate. $VIG pays the smaller check. $SCHD pays the bigger one. $VIG: 0.04% fee, ~1.6% yield, only companies with 10+ years of dividend growth. $SCHD: 0.06% fee, ~3.2% yield, built for income today. 5 years: $VIG 13.1% a year vs $SCHD 12.1%. $1,000 turned into $1,715 vs $1,543. The growing check beat the bigger check. But the income crowd will say a 3.2% yield pays the bills TODAY. I've got my eye on $VIG myself. So which team: bigger check now, or a check that grows? Where do you stand? 👀

Why would I choose and compare $SCHD when I'm not looking at retirement in the next 5 years? I go $SCHG all the way, when I'm close to retirement & looking for stable income with keeping my portfolio value stable, I'll sell SCHG & swap to SCHD.

I have both, VIG will appreciate more in time. I consider it a growth ETF because its yield is small but it only holds companies that increase their dividends every year
