What a weekend in Saskatoon. I am at the Airport in Edmonton on my way home and finally have a chance to make a post. @paulsantori@piiverse kept me out way past my bedtime after the event. I had the opportunity to moderate the panels at the Saskatoon Blossom meetup and it really was an honour to be asked. Just over 50 people came out, from all different age groups and at completely different stages of their financial journeys. Some people even drove a pretty significant distance just to be there. The panels included @maxstocks , @canadiantshirt, @williamwang23@piiverse@paulsantori For me though, one of the best parts was getting to meet and talk with everyone who came out. I heard from people who are just starting their investing journey, others who have been doing it for years and everything in between. That’s the part I really enjoy. If someone can hear something, ask a question or have a conversation that helps them take another step forward on their own journey, that’s pretty cool. But it also goes both ways. I learned a lot from the people in that room as well, and I think that’s really important. After attending the Vancouver meetup and now Saskatoon, I’m also starting to see just how powerful these events can be. Blossom allows us to connect, share ideas and learn from each other online. But there’s something different about actually getting people together in the same room. You meet the person behind the profile. You hear their story. You find out why they started investing and what they’re working towards. For me, these events kind of connect the dots between the online community and the real people behind it. I also have to give a huge amount of credit to Will and @jesswang for putting this whole thing together, especially with the loss of Will’s sister in Vancouver. My hat goes off to both of them, but I have to give Jess a special shout out. Her organization and attention to detail was incredible, all while being a busy mom of two. I was also lucky enough to spend some quality time with Will, Jess and their kids while I was there. And that’s probably what sticks with me the most. I started doing this because I enjoy investing and personal finance. But some of the relationships and friendships that have come from it have become just as important. And the fact that we can get together and talk about personal finance on top of that? That’s a pretty good weekend. Shout out to @maxstocks for bringing swag to hand out to everyone and supporting the event. Thanks Saskatoon.

It might take a while for Saskatoon to recover from the meet-up. Literally doubled the population 😆 🤣

Thanks for keeping us updated. Jealous of the attendees, and looking forward to hearing updates from other attendees. Safe travels ! Wise to get out of Saskatoon before it turned into Hoth
