We're celebrating Episode 25 of Financial KarMoe and Moe's birthday 🎂 (not 25! lol)! 🥳🎈 This episode, @karyungtom and Moe discuss common investing mistakes, covered call ETFs vs. broad-market investing, and why a high distribution doesn't necessarily mean higher returns (Shoutout to @scottsinvesting, @saini, @ian_s whose posts we reviewed). We also answer @griff79's question from Blossom about funding your TFSA for 2027, explore value investing during inflation, and debate whether long-term investors should actually hope for a market crash. To wrap things up, we get personal with birthday freebies, frugality, and Canada's tipping culture. Is it getting out of hand, especially when picking up takeout or a coffee? 😅 💬 What do you think? Has tipping culture in Canada gone too far? Let us know! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBthz2Wmr2o

Being asked for a tip that starts at 20/25/30% at Second Cup Near the Ottawa airport when purchasing a bottle of water was ridiculous. They had a system where you had to ask them to unlock the “No Tip” option. This world is cooked.

Thank you for taking the time to discuss my Blossom post in your most recent YT video... My goal when posting here is to 'make people think' and it seems that's exactly how the both of you responded to my post. For that I say thank you and cheers... As for tipping culture in Canada, I honestly don't know since I'm in California, but it's definitely more in your face at checkout than it used to be. With that said, I don't feel pressured while getting a drip coffee at Starbucks or other similar situations tho'. TBH... I'd rather companies simply paid wages that don't rely on tips (like Japan), but that's a culture and business change I unfortunately don't see happening...

Tipping is getting ridiculous especially when the service sucks yet they still expect it because the tip is “divided “.

Yes tipping culture it out of hand, in my opinion. I see so many people saying if you can’t tip 20-25% don’t go out, that’s crazyness. Though I do tip that good if I am happy with the service, it being expected now is where I draw the line.
