Property taxes have become one of the most overlooked increases in the cost of homeownership. Over the past decade, cumulative residential municipal property-tax increases have been roughly 69% in Vancouver, 53% in Toronto, 50% in Halifax, 45% in Calgary and 44% in Prince Edward County. Some of that reflects inflation and higher costs for wages, policing, fire services, transit, construction and infrastructure. But the question for homeowners is pretty simple: Do you feel like you’re getting better value from your municipality for the significant increase in property taxes you’re paying? Better roads? Better transit? Better services? Better infrastructure? @talukder9712@etf.go

I hate Toronto. Living here is hell on earth. Everyone I know my age is either living paycheck to paycheck barely surviving or in a stupid amount of debt just getting railed. The Canadian population can’t keep this up much longer. Gas is also going up to 2$ A LITER THIS WEEKEND 😁🤪😆 Niceee

It’s terrible. In my area they decrease the assessed value yet increased our taxes by a large % Way larger increase than what we are allowed to pass onto tenants (if they increase property taxes 20% shouldn’t rent go up 20%??)

NOPE. do we need to say it, the Lost Decade of letting people into the country to live off social services funded by tax payers... would read stories of people arriving at the Canadian airport and head straight to social shelter and call it home. OECD projects Canada to have the worst economy in 2020-2030 within the OECD. Nearly no GDP growth or labor productivity.

Also higher home prices increases taxes since taxes are a percent of the home sale. That's why you always need to fight for the lowest price possible
