Hey guys 👻 I’d like to raise an interesting topic for Episode 27: when does conviction become stubbornness in investing? Let’s say you strongly believe in a particular investment strategy, such as systematic factor investing, but it underperforms a traditional market-cap-weighted index for five consecutive years. At what point should you reconsider your strategy? How do you distinguish patience and discipline from simply refusing to acknowledge that your investment thesis might be wrong? After all, we’re constantly told to stay the course. But surely, staying the course isn’t always the right decision? Would love to hear your thoughts! Happy Halloween!! 🎃

Here’s a scary question: how many ppl in Canada look at their funds in RRSP accounts thinking they “made it to a million “ then retire just to find out their biggest beneficiary is actually CRA? If you’re in 25% tax bracket & most of your retirement funds are in RRSP then you actually really only have 750k after tax? I’m just curious how many ppl are aware that it’s not only your total portfolio balance but what account you hold your money in that determines your monthly spend $

In what situation does the Smith Manoeuvre make financial sense? Any time I've considered it, the Smith Manoeuvre didn't seem worth the trouble ( house at low fixed rate vs rates available on ploc vs expected tax advantages)

Should finfluencers who promote misleading, fraudulent, or unlicensed financial advice face criminal prosecution and jail time, or should regulatory enforcement remain limited to fines and content bans?
