We've been back now for two weeks. The credit card for our trip has been paid in full. 💳 Japan has something for everyone. Here are each of our splurges: Me: Original Art, (paper cutting technique) from a local artist, cost $320 CAD + 50 dollars to have it framed. Also art supplies including Japanese calligraphy pens and my beloved Copic markers (waaaayyyy cheaper than in Canada). Son: 120 dollars for model trains and also all things train related including shinkansen ties, chopsticks, train socks etc Husband: A used Omega Railmaster from Watchnian, a store in Nakano Broadway $$$$ (not part of the trip budget!...he saved for this separately in his TSFA watch fund) Family Spurge: $750 for a night stay at a Riocan in Hakone in their fanciest room with a private Osen. (nice break from the 3 of us sharing the same bed in Tokyo). We went $200 dollars over what I had planned, t'was such a great trip overall! And tons of snacks, lucky for us the border inspectors weren't too concerned about my Kitkat smuggling...

So amazing @staystronggiver! And only over budget by $200? You are an excellent planner. I'd have to look into the Riocan stay in Hakone that you have mentioned. I am sure you tried the scenic train in Hakone. What were some your most favorite activities in Japan?
