I don’t know about anyone else but I’m finding it difficult to put a 5-10 year horizon on companies that are changing so much with Google coming out with aggressive investment numbers yesterday. Everyone’s betting on AI but I don’t think people are thinking right. When I think of an AI and robotics world, I think of an AI taking your order and a robot handing you your food. That’s the use of AI that doesn’t require a big bet and can wait until the tech is ready. There’s few companies I’m so confident in long term right now except for one. Think about it. Real estate boom? McDonalds owns most of their properties in the cities and busy streets. Oil goes down? Straight to the profitability. Oil goes up? McDonald’s is able to pass it on to the consumer and their scale allows them to absorb oil costs in the short run. AI and robotics world? McDonald’s sees maybe the MOST benefit of that On and on, McDonalds succeeds and it’s still trading at an historic discount YTD. I love McD’s and I really think everyone should own some at these prices

I once attended a tech meet up at a bar and a tech nerd approached me and said that he can replace all of the pretty young ladies working the bar and waitressing with robots and reduce the cost of drinks. My response is if you do that, then you have completely missed the point of having a bar and you might as well just sit at home and drink beer you bought at the beer store. That's the cheapest way to drink beer. Fast food joints are in a tough segment and will probably have to evolve. I don't even want to pretend to know what that's going to look like in the future. A friend of mine told me that she has already seen automatic vending machines that serve hot pizza slices. Is this the future?
