Thought I’d add my quick two cents on AI supported content. My position on this topic is straightforward: if you’re writing commodity style content like “Automate your investments, index and chill, etc etc” then your unique combination of words likely does not add value over an AI generated sentence. If you’re writing on unique topics from personal experience or insight, then why would you you ever outsource your personality to AI? If you’re currently posting content, this second area is where you must live, not competing on producing common content on commodity topics. For the writers among us attempting to make a living or at least a decent side hustle from writing online, just remember the words of Philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer: “… The person who writes for fools is always sure of a large audience.” AI will no doubt increase the appearance of writing skills for many poor writers. The poor writer becomes literate, the average writer becomes more fluent and what of the excellent writer? AI will undoubtedly strip the soul from this writer. Yet that’s exactly where the opportunity lies for excellent writers. AI is not your competition, it was the average writer actually becoming a better human writer. Now there’s less competition as long as you understand where you can compete. Unfortunately, if you’re writing in the area of pattern recognition or analysis like evaluating and picking stocks, you’re likely fighting an uphill battle, unless you have a very creative way of presenting the information. Your unique lived experience is what differentiates you from others and AI. This becomes a hurdle for young creators, but an area they should lean into. Content creation, ironically, will force us to actually live life and then present those experiences authentically to the world. Write about your life honestly and I’d read that all day, everyday.

I agree there's too much basic motivational quote type of posts. Every single time I post something it's the opposite. It's a direct experience or rare insight that isn't talked about here. But as such there isn't much to say all the time so I only post once in awhile when something actually comes up

Thank you Fraser, this is so well articulated! As someone that loves to draw and make art. I was wondering what's the point of it all in these strange times. You outlined the 'purpose' beautifully. I appreciate this post!
