— Did You Know? 🧐 Holding $XEQT buys you a piece of roughly 12,000 stocks worldwide, but its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) cousin $GEQT slashes that down to just ~800 and drops emerging markets completely. Market Outlook 💰 With rate cycles shifting and big tech driving most index gains lately, fund structure matters more than ever. When an ETF screens out energy producers and heavy industry, it naturally forces a heavy tilt into tech and healthcare. That’s great when tech is flying, but it adds extra volatility if valuation multiples cool down. For DIY investors, it really comes down to whether you want pure broad-market coverage or a built-in tech tilt. DIY Investors Key Takeaway 💰 $GEQT has delivered a slight performance edge over $XEQT since its late 2020 launch, driven largely by its lower allocation to traditional energy and heavier weight in US growth/tech. However, a 5–6 year window is still relatively short in the world of index investing, sector rotations can easily shift leadership over longer horizons. It’s also a matter of preferring ESG-screened companies for some.

Interesting to see $GEQT underperformed $XEQT its first three years after being introduced. The holdings also being far more heavy in technology and financials and top TSX and S&P500 companies. Probably why the past three years $GEQT shot up over $XEQT.
