Chips Bounce After Worst Day Since 2020
Thursday was the worst day for chips since March 2020.
The Nasdaq fell 5.52% and the chip index lost 12.25%.
This morning the same names are bouncing, and the jobs report came in hot: 165,000 jobs added in October vs 65,000 expected, unemployment down to 4.1%.
Here are 4 worth researching. 👇
📌 The Watchlist
1. SanDisk | $SNDK: Makes flash memory and storage for AI data centers. Fell 22.26% Thursday, up about 10.6% premarket Friday as memory buyers returned.
2. Micron | $MU: Makes DRAM and NAND memory chips. Fell 17.46% Thursday, up about 8.2% premarket Friday.
3. AMD | $AMD: Makes AI accelerators and server chips. Fell 17.26% Thursday, up about 8.5% premarket Friday. Record Q3 revenue of $13.38B, up 45%.
4. Nvidia | $NVDA: The AI GPU leader. Fell about 9% Thursday, up about 4.5% premarket Friday. Earnings land Nov 17.
📌 The Part Worth Saving
A bounce is not a bottom. It is a reason to research, not a reason to buy blindly.
Look for:
- Whether the bounce holds into the close
- Memory demand holding up in real results, not just headlines
- What each company says about AI spending next
- Cash and balance sheet strength if the selloff returns
The best question: Is this a dip worth researching, or the first bounce in a longer reset?
