I became a Canadian citizen about a week ago and I must say I’m thankful for the investment opportunities that I’ve been able to access since landing here 4 years ago as a permanent resident. Now that I’m a citizen, much hasn’t changed, but it gives me the security and that feeling of belonging. Being an immigrant is not easy as investing can be very challenging while rebuilding your life from scratch. However, we didn’t make it this far, just to make it this far. Invest, build a life that you’re proud of and start generational wealth for those that come after you in your new land. 🥰
I am not happy. Recently I have been having absolute terrible luck on products I've purchased It started off with a $250 socket set. I opened the set and realized one of the sockets were missing all markings on it. They clearly forgot to paint the size of the socket in factory. I was able to contact costumer support and they did send me a new socket with the proper labeling on it Next I bought a $2000 cable machine for my home gym. It came in 5 boxes. One of the boxes were wrong so I had to deal with customer support to get the proper box sent. After over a month from the date I made the order I finally had everything and assembled the machine. Well the instructions weren't impressive. There were typos in it and I'm pretty sure there was an error in assembly causing me to put the wrong washer in the wrong place. I've seen pictures of the machine on their website and seen pictures of all sorts of reviews and everyone has these particular washers in different locations. I did what the instructions showed but I believe they're wrong. Either way it's a couple washers. Hopefully it's nothing critical to the longevity of the pullup bar. There was also one completely striped screw. I screw it in and it does nothing but spin. Lastly the pulley housings on most of the pulleys are welded crooked. The packaging was done very well so I highly doubt this was a shipping error. There also seems to be no damage at all on the pulleys. They're all just welded sideways. Some worse than others and a couple that are actually done properly Next I bought a $3000 gaming pc. I opted to buy a prebuilt one this time since I now live in an isolated location. I have limited shipping options and a ton of stuff simply doesn't come here. I can't even order Amazon for the most part. Anyway I open it up and notice one of the mounting screws on the motherboard is completely missing and another one of these screws is cross threaded. Even worse I can't take it out since it spins endlessly. The instructions also came in French with no English copy so I had to translate it with AI and the wifi antenna on the instructions is not what was shipped in the box. I yet to turn this thing on. God only knows if it'll melt or burn down the house. It's also difficult to try and return this since the closest store is 7 hours away and trying to repackage this and mail it instead is a huge pain in the a$$ Am I unlucky or is this the new normal? Everything costs more than ever, salaries don't keep up and on top of it all these products are garbage. There's no quality assurance anymore, it seems like workers nowadays couldn't give two sh$ts and who's left with the aftermath? I'm tired of companies cutting corners, producing trash and charging the moon for services. It's ridiculous. Even in my workplace. We bought several brand new vehicles and they're all lemons. What about fast food? I recently bought food items from several different locations. I get egg shells in breakfast sandwiches, hair in other things and bones in others. It's insane. No one has pride in work anymore. There should be no reason why things that cost 1000s have all these issues. It's not like I'm buying cheap crap
Father Lord, As we begin this new week, I come before You with a grateful heart. Thank You for the gift of life, for protection, for strength, for wisdom, and for bringing us into another week filled with new possibilities. Lord, as we enjoy this Labor Day and prepare for the market to reopen tomorrow, I pray that You go before us in everything we do. Give us wisdom, patience, discipline, and clarity as we prepare for another trading week. Help us not to enter this new week with greed, fear, or the pressure to prove anything to anyone. Teach us to remain patient and disciplined. Help us understand that we do not have to force a trade just because the market is open. Give us the wisdom to wait for the right opportunities and the courage to walk away when the setup is not there. Lord, protect our capital and protect our minds. Keep us away from emotional decisions, revenge trading, overtrading, excessive risk, and unnecessary confidence. Help us to respect the market and understand that every opportunity comes with risk. For everyone in this community who is learning options trading, give them understanding. Help them learn from every chart, every trade, every mistake, and every success. Give beginners the patience to learn before they risk heavily and the discipline to understand that becoming a good trader is a journey, not an overnight achievement. Bless the work of our hands this week. Give us wisdom in our businesses, careers, investments, and personal decisions. Open the right doors and close the wrong ones. May every opportunity we encounter be guided by wisdom and discernment. For those who are struggling financially, Lord, make a way for them. For those waiting for a breakthrough, give them patience and strength. For those who experienced losses recently, give them the courage to learn, recover, and keep moving forward. And for those experiencing success, keep them humble and grateful. Lord, let this new week be better than the last. Let it bring growth, knowledge, peace, discipline, and positive progress. Proverbs 16:3 says: “Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.” So today, I commit this new week into Your hands. I commit our plans, our goals, our decisions, our work, and our trading into Your hands. Go before us, Lord. Give us wisdom before we make decisions. Give us patience before we enter trades. Give us discipline while we are in them. Give us humility when we win. Give us strength when we lose. And give us the understanding to know that our true security does not come from the market, money, or material things, but from You. May tomorrow’s market bring opportunities, but more importantly, may we have the wisdom to recognize the opportunities that are meant for us and the discipline to ignore the ones that are not. Protect every member of this community and their families. Keep us safe throughout this week. Give us peace in our homes, clarity in our minds, favor in our work, and strength to keep pursuing our goals. May this week be a week of wisdom over emotion, discipline over impulse, patience over pressure, and faith over fear. We are not chasing the market. We are not chasing money. We are building knowledge, developing discipline, managing risk, and trusting the process. Lord, let our efforts produce good results, but never let the results become more important than the lessons. I’ve just watched a video on tiktok stating that trumps administration is going to sanction a bank on Monday. The creator stated he believes it’s going to be a Canadian bank specifically $TD or $RY, that makes me worried as TD is a massive part of my portfolio. I’ve amassed a 41% upside DCA ing in the last year, I feel it’s time to reallocate into the etf that tracks all the 6 banks or something because I can’t lie I’m aware of what TD has been exposed for doing and it makes sense that it is possible. However, $TD also already has a massive retail presence in the US and is regulated so would it make sense to sanction them.. I think I’m going to be selling my position on Monday…

We've been back now for two weeks. The credit card for our trip has been paid in full. 💳 Japan has something for everyone. Here are each of our splurges: Me: Original Art, (paper cutting technique) from a local artist, cost $320 CAD + 50 dollars to have it framed. Also art supplies including Japanese calligraphy pens and my beloved Copic markers (waaaayyyy cheaper than in Canada). Son: 120 dollars for model trains and also all things train related including shinkansen ties, chopsticks, train socks etc Husband: A used Omega Railmaster from Watchnian, a store in Nakano Broadway $$$$ (not part of the trip budget!...he saved for this separately in his TSFA watch fund) Family Spurge: $750 for a night stay at a Riocan in Hakone in their fanciest room with a private Osen. (nice break from the 3 of us sharing the same bed in Tokyo). We went $200 dollars over what I had planned, t'was such a great trip overall! And tons of snacks, lucky for us the border inspectors weren't too concerned about my Kitkat smuggling... read more
I apologize if this offends anyone as it is not investing related. I have a very close friend in Fredericton who is going through colon cancer. He just texted me and told me his tumour has shrunk by 35%. Getting close to where surgery is an option. My reason for posting this is to encourage all of you to reach out to someone who is going through a really difficult time. Give them a call, an encouraging text, bring them a coffee, take them for a drive etc etc. It can make a big difference. Again just ignore if need be. Take care everyone.

Got some pretty cool news for the Saskatoon Blossom Meetup 👀 Blossom CEO @maxstocks confirmed that he is coming and Adrian aka @canadiantshirt as well as @crazycanuckinvestor are coming as well! Vancouver had around 600 people. Toronto had thousands. Saskatoon will forsure be smaller which honestly might be better in some ways. Instead of trying to talk to 20 different people in a massive crowd, you’ll actually have a chance to sit down, have a conversation, talk investing, and meet Max, Adrian and other people in the Canadian finance community. Saw someone posted this and thought...this is exactly how my wife and I have lived for the past 8 or so years since we been married.. The only difference is our house was 345k and we fly to places more than we drive. Other than that it describes us to a T. We live in small town Sask, know all our neighbours, take each other's trash out, everyone puts up Christmas lights and decorations during winter, kids roam freely, zero traffic, I walk to work, summer fire in our big yard with friends, strangers wave at you when you drive by...all while stacking our investments. Living the simplier life is so good...
